Quick Fire Questions on 'dry lining' a new build cavity wall
How do you model the effect of the foil on a PU/PIR type board, do you put in figures for emmisivity, vapour resistance/Sd value or do you ignore the foil? If board is fixed using dabs should you model the 20 mm or so 'cavity' In the main unfilled cavity wall what is the typical air change rate for ...

Is high moisture load the normal for Ireland
Manfred,
can you confirm if in Ireland we should be using 'high moisture load' as the norm in Ireland for our interior climate conditions.
I seem to remember you saying this on the course?
Many thanks,
David.

Installing Wufi Light over expired eval. ver. Wufi Pro 5.1
Hi Manfred sadly the evaluation period has ended for me so while I wait approval to purchases the full version I would like to install the Lite version but seem to be having difficulties doing so. Do I need to remove the old expired version first? Also will Wufi Bio work with Wufi Lite? Many Thanks,...

Thanks Manfred, like you say easy and complex. Is there any paper on how to interpret the 'risk' of mold using Wufi Bio based on the type of material e.g. concrete block red would be a medium risk but on timber a high risk etc. It is the interpretation of the Wufi Bio output that is difficult. Thank...

How 'Smart' is Wufi Bio?
Given that Mold needs specific food, moisture, temperature and light conditions to grow to what extent (apart from setting Lim Class 0, 1 etc.) does WUFI bio take into consideration the materials at the particular point being examined in a construction build up? For instance will it give a red if th...

Classic 215 mm concrete block
Hi I am looking for the properties of a 'classic' 100 x 215 x 440 concrete block. From the web I see they are 28kg each so density is 2959 kg/m3, conductivity again given by web site is 1.13 W/mk but the other factors such as porosity etc are missing. Given its ubiquity in Ireland and the studies do...

Condensation Check
I want to assess the risk of interstitial condensation at specific points in the build up. I have set up monitor positions at the relevant points and am looking at the graph of dew point and temperature. I notice that as I move from the inside to outside the separation between actual temperature and...

Saving Wufi Bio Results
Joe and everyone I am now able to 'point' wufi bio at specific parts of the construction buildup but when I close WUFI and reopen the results do not seem to be saved with the file. On the WUFI bio interface there are four icons but the 'diskette' icon for saving a file is greyed out. Should they be,...

Hi again from the course notes specifically Manfred's presentation, slide 20, showing the test built standing seam roof "Effects of Moisture and Hugrothermal Peformances Evaluation in Building Practice" the example illustrates vapour being driven back and forth as night conditions change t...

Hardcore and Blinding
Hi for modelling ground floor slabs is there any point in modelling the hardcore and blinding assuming it is beneath the radon barrier i.e. outside the hygro envelope? I am looking at a concret slab with 400 - 500 mm of EPS insulation and then a radon barrier. I am using the 500 mm reference data fr...

Non Insulating air layer
Thanks Manfred and Calina, I am actually interested in modelling 30 mm thick stone when used as a rainscreen as part of a 'ventilated' rainscreen. I want to see if it reaches saturation and if so for how long. Another way I thought of modeling it is to assign Irish climate data to both sides but to ...

Non Insulating Air Layer
Hi I am wondering how best to model a non insulating air layer, that is to say a layer that is open to the atmosphere i.e. behind a rain screen cladding. While I know I could simply ignore the rainscreen and the air layer and set the next outersmost material's rain adhering fraction to zero, I just ...

Thanks
Thanks Joe for that, I know many of my questions (including the bead silver bead questions) were covered in the course but I guess there was so much information I was reaching saturation myself and know I have forgotten some of the more subtle steps in using Wufi.

Wufi Bio
When you run Wufi Bio do you run it for a specific layer in the component/construction build up i.e. behind plasterboard, on vapour barrier, in timber or is it giving an overall indication of the 'health' of the total buildup? If it is the first scenario how do you point Wufi Bio at a specific part ...

Maximum Saturation Values
When a material is saturated with water is there a figure for what the Mass % is at saturation level or can this be derived from the porosity figures or other Wufi data?
