Provider not found and WUFI® crashes

Why does WUFI® crash with a error message about a Provider not being found? This error means that part of the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) has become corrupted. This is a common component included with Windows XP and used by WUFI®. Components of it are used by many software products. It ...

Animation1D doesn't work

Why doesn't any screen appear or the firewall comes up when i click "show film"? WUFI®4 comes with a new postprocessing tool called Animation1D for displaying the film. These two programs communicate with each other through a TCP/IP connection to ensure data integrity. If you have a perso...

The WUFILan tool doesn't work

Why doesn't WUFILan work or rather why doesn't it show me any screen?

To be able to use WUFILan you need administratior rights. (The WUFILan tool serves to switch the installed WUFI between the different languages)

Disabled "Next" button during installation of WUFI

During the installation, why is the "Next" button diabled after I entered the serial number? One reason can be that the serial number you recieved from us doesn't work but that is very unlikely. You have to make sure that all the registration information you entered (in "User Name&qu...

(1): Sources of Material Data

Where can I find material data for materials which are not included in the database? Unfortunately, finding material data for hygric simulations can prove difficult since there are no standard collections of such data as yet. While thermal data can be found in many books, hygric data are sparse and...

(2): Sources of Climate Data

Where can I find climate data? Hourly climate data which include rain are even harder to find than material data. IBP offers one year of hourly weather data with WUFI (the file can also be downloaded from the IBP website). These data from 1991 are considered fairly representative for the climate of...

(3): Coordinates for Converting Radiation Data

I'm trying to collect weather data for a specific location. Can I use data measured somewhere else as long as I enter the correct coordinates of my location in the file header or the corresponding *.AGD file? In general, no. In order to correctly evaluate the amount of solar radiation incident on a...

(4): Volume Percent, Mass Percent

WUFI gives me the water content of the simulated wall in units of kg/m³ or in volume percent. However, I need the result in mass percent. How do I convert the results? WUFI usually gives the water content as "water density", i.e. how many kg of water are in one m³ of building material. A ...

(5): Relative Humidity in a Building Component

I'm trying to make sense of the WUFI results, but I'm confused. What exactly is 'relative humidity' and what is the relative humidity in a building component referred to? In air the relative humidity is the ratio of the actual water vapor partial pressure p and the water vapor saturation pressure p...

(6): Default Moisture Storage Function

When I do not define a moisture storage function for a material, WUFI uses a default moisture storage function instead. What does this function look like? WUFI needs a well-defined moisture field for each time step, so it must assign a moisture content even to materials which nominally don't have a...

(7): Water Content of an Air Layer

I did a WUFI calculation with an assembly that includes an air layer. However, I get completely unrealistic water contents for the air layer. What went wrong? WUFI was developed to simulate the hygrothermal processes in porous building materials. The detailed simulation of heat and moisture transpo...
