Combining components in 3D Editor

How can I combine components so they show as one in the Visualized Component Tree. For example if I have multiple windows that are individually listed in the component tree, how can I combine them to show up as one component.

UPDATE - disregard the question, I figured it out. I was using the shift key instead of the control key to try to select items.
