I've read some of the help information about capillary action but I'm still confused.
In interested in developing a sample of how the presence of external ground water may, through capillary action, be absorb into the masonry facade.
How is this done and what is the relability of the results? Also, is/are there any example(s)?

Dear Mr. Furtaw,
rising damp is an inherently two-dimensional process, with the moisture crawling up along the wall and part of the rising moisture evaporating away sideways through the surfaces of the wall.
This process cannot be simulated with one-dimensional simulation software like WUFI Pro, but WUFI 2D can do it (as long as the rising height of the moisture column is limited by evaporation and not by its weight, since WUFI 2D cannot account for the influence of gravity). Here is an example for such an investigation.

Is WUFI 2D fully operational? Last I heard that it was not user friendly. Is there a cost difference between the two versions? Can Pro 4.2 be upgraded? Can 2D be used the same as Pro 4.1?

WUFI 2D is fully operational. It is a completely separate program, not an upgrade for WUFI pro 4.x; the prices for WUFI 2D are listed on our website. You can also view a short animation showing the handling of WUFI 2D.
The current version 3.2 is much more user-friendly than the previous version. The basic concepts are the same as in the 1D version, and a WUFI Pro user will immediately recognize most of the steps for a simulation. However, inputting the project data, performing the calculation and analyzing the results is noticeably more complex than in WUFI Pro. The 2D computations take much more time and may require some tinkering by the user since the 2D numerics are sometimes more delicate than 1D numerics. We recommend the user should attend one of the relevant seminars for a proper introduction. A potential user should not underestimate the time and effort needed to master the additional subtleties involved in 2D calculations.
