construction with small air layer doesn't run

Hei,

I need to simulate a roof construction where wood beams have been screwed together.
For that reason, I have build an element that in between the wooden parts, there are very small air gaps 0.1mm, but the simulation doesn't seem to work and I just get an empty convergence analyzer.
If I run it without the air gaps, the simulation runs and converges properly.
Could it be that such small air gaps create numerical problem and does not allow the simulation to converge? Or is it something else I can check?
Thank you in advance

Regards,
Stergiani

Hi Stergiani,
please only use thicknessess >= 1mm in WUFI 2D. you may need to adapt, the mue value (perm in) to receive the desired sd value (perm).

Thanks for your reply
What would you think would be the best way to simulate wooden beams that are screwed together?
Cause I try to study the difference between using screwed beams together, instead of opaque wooden material
Thank you in advance

I would use a WUFI Pro simulation to figure out if the 0.1 mm air gap you intend to create does have an impact on the results. Likely not which then make it easier for you to set up your 2D model.
The screws my have an impact though

Thanks :)
I'll give it a shot
