What would be a typical sd-value for an oil coating on hardwood?
Should rain absorption be turned off (as per the warning message)?

Re: Effect of oil coating on hardwood
Hi David,
I have no information about typical sd-values for such coatings. Maybe you can ask a manufacturer.
If you want to set the coating as a sd-value in the boundary conditions, you have to switch off the rain, as the sd-value only has an impact on the vapor diffusion. So rain may be absorbed by the material below, but drying to the outside will be reduced, as this is a diffusion process.
Probably the coating will influence the sd-value as well as the liquid water absorption, so if you get values for both, you can adapt that in the calculation as described in our tutorial about the water-repellent treatment.
