Geometry modelling of outer wall

I am currently modelling an outer wall in Wufi 2D. I am not exactly sure from what direction I am modeling though. Is the section I am modelling in Wufi 2D a horizontal or vertical cut of the outer wall?

Hi Josephine,

if the modelling direction is not explicitly defined by the problem statement, a horizontal section is usually assumed in WUFI 2D. In that case, the model represents a cut through the wall in plane, for example to study horizontal moisture transport or local effects.

However, it is important to note that WUFI 2D itself does not impose a physical direction (horizontal or vertical). The interpretation depends entirely on how the geometry, boundary conditions, and material orientation are defined by the user.

If your objective is simply to analyse the through‑wall hygrothermal behaviour of a homogeneous outer wall assembly, this task may in fact be easier handled in WUFI Pro (1D).
