Multi foil Insulation

Post by colinkinguk »

Is it possible to model multifoil insulation in WUFI Pro? It is difficult to obtain all the minimum parameters required, but before I ask for additional information I would like to know if it is possible to model anyway. Thanks for any help that can be offered.

It depends what you mean with multifoil insulation?
If you mean foils on both side of the insulation, yes
If you mean 2 foils on one side, yes

thank you for getting back to me, by multi foil I mean an insulation with foil on both sides of the insulation. The insulation is formed as a honeycomb structure with aluminium foil fixed to both sides. Could you explain how I would need to create this material in Wufi Pro 6 please.

Hi Colin,
can you please post a sketch or drawing of the material section?

Hi Christian, I have tried to post an image of the material but it is too large for this portal, is there another way that I can get you the image of the materials in question ? may be e mail ?

Thanks

Colin

I have uploaded 3 images

1. the roof structure
2. a actis insulation material
3 the multifoil insulation

if you could let me know if this can be modelled and if so would i need to build each individual layer of the multifoil to accurately gauge performance.

Thank you for your help

Hi Colin,

we do not have such a multilayer insulation in our database. You can generate you one by using the given lambda value and calculate the permeability to a µ-value. If there are metal foils on the surfaces, you can express them by using placing an additional vapor barrier (sd = 1500m) on that position.
