total water content

Post by malimog »

hi
i am wondering if you can tell me how can we calculate total water content in roofs?how it is related to the layer water content?
because i have two same roofs with close layer water contents but different amount of total water content in same boundary condition.

WUFI gives the 'total water content' in units of kg/m² (that is, the mass of water contained in a wall cross-section of area 1 m²), and the water content in the individual layers in units of kg/m³ (that is, the average water density in each layer).

To compute the total water content, multiply the water content in each layer with the respective layer thickness and add the results for all layers.

Thomas

i have simulated a roof by different softwares.(WUFI and WUFIplus)
i have got very close water content for each layer but my total water contents are far from each other .
i can send you my results and my input files if you need.
thanks

Total Water Content

The total water content in WUFI Plus is in the units kg/m³ - which is different to the interpretation in WUFI Pro (see Thomas reply). So please multiply the result of WUFI Plus by your component thickness (or divide the result of WUFI Pro by the component thickness) to compare the results of the two software tools.
