Critical RH limit for woodfibre IWI at masonry interface

Dear Team,

I am wondering what critical limit IBP use for RH at the IWI/masonry interface for a woodfibre based insulation like Steico, Pavatex, Gutex, Homotherm etc. The (presumed) absence of oxygen should mean that the limit is higher than 80%RH, but do you have a safe limit to work to when assessing the results? Any reference-able material would be appreciated.

I am using the RH assessment in addition to assessing the water content by mass percent of the 5mm woodfibre interface layer for critical levels stated in your training literature of >18-20%

RH limit beneath interior insulation

In Germany there are different limits in discussion. The WTA guideline for interior insulations recommends to limt the RH to 95 %.

To avoid mould growth for sure a complete adheseion of the insulation to the substrate is required.

Accoding do Viitanen at 95 % RH and below 10 °C no wood ;-) decay can occur.
