Free WUFI version installation

Post by Maria Spinu »

Does anyone have a list with FAQ and troubleshooting when installing the free WUFI version? Are there any incompatibility issues with different operating systems? Is there a minimum requirement for size/age of the computer?
Also, is the following web address the most recent for downloading this software in USA (English version):
http://www.wufi.de/frame_en_webshop.html

Thank you,
Maria

Thank you, Christian, as always this is very helpful and you are very prompt with your support.

I had an instance when we tried to install the ORNL version and it did not work, it could not find the data library. I thought that this may no longer be supported, so we downloaded the WUFI light 5.2 free version, in English, and it worked fine. I have been avoiding the ORNL, as I was afraid we may mess it up. I will be training our field support engineers on the free version next week, and I am concerned we may have problems downloading. Hopefully we won't. Thnanks again,
Maria

Hello Maria,

the reason why the data library is not found is most time that the installation is directly called from the zip file and not extracted before. It is a windows problem handling zipped files. If you perform the installation out of the zip-file, only the file you called is extracted in a temporary space, but not the database. The installation is searching for the database in this temporary directory, but it is not found. So you always have to unzip the file before the installation.

Hello experts,

can You help me unzipping the free installation file? Downloaded the Install_WUFI5.zip and tried to unpack but win7pro says the folder is empty. The size is 72Mb though...

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

this is probably caused by your virus scanner. Try to deactivate it during the download. As the zip contains an exe this could cause a problem.
The files are tested and there is no virus in there.

Hello,
the WUFI® license form is very case sensitive. All fields has to be filled in exactly as in the mail. Please use copy and paste from the mail you got. Please also take care, that there is no blank before or behind the names/numbers.

During installation of the databases an error appears. After that when WUFI gets started a message appears that there is no MDAC installed (there are no requirements in documentation for that). I have Win7 (2015 and Win10 outside btw), where MDAC doesn't work. What should I do?

Hello Dinosaver,

please unzip all files to a folder before starting the installation. Otherwise the database will not be found.

Thanks for the tip. No effect. As I saw, WUFI requires .NET 3.5 which is out-of-date and I cannot install in on Win7. Could you provide a step-by-step screenshots of WUFI installation on Win7Ult?
