Unfired clay brick

Post by rozumjak »

Hello,

I am working on my master thesis comparing the hygrothetmal behavior of different wall systems and I would like to include a wall made of unfired clay brick (i.e. http://www.claytec.de/produkte/baustoff ... rwerk.html at the bottom). I was going to use the alternative material (clay mortar) but I am afraid that due to the different clay content in those two materials the sorption isotherm (and possibly the other characteristics) might not be representative.
Do you know if the material characteristics of unfired clay bricks have been measured?

Thank you
Jakub

I am sure there have been made measurements. May just be hard to get them.
I see in your profile that you use WUFI Light. Thats means even if you get the material properties you will not be able to use them as you cannot change the material properties.

Dear Jakub,

if you like to use a full version of WUFI for your thesis, please sign in to our online shop and apply the wanted version in the menu "student licenses":

Dear Jakub,
i do not have measurements of unfired clay, but see the clay mortar in the WUFI "Masea Database". This may be close to your material.

Hi Manfred,

I have updated for the Pro version, but did not update my profile here. So this issue is solved.
You say that there are for sure data on this material. Do you have any suggestions which institute could be having it. Is there any other building physics measurement body apart from Fraunhofer and Masea? So far I havent found any paper performing the simulation on unfired bricks.

Thanks a lot Christian for your suggestions. The mortar clay is my back up option.

Sorry, I have no further information which could help you.

I think a good approach could be to contact all the Labs which participated in the MASEA project.
