1% Rain Leak vs 5% Rain Leak

Post by Mark Jimmy »

Hello,
I have a question about some simulations I am completing in WUFI-Pro. I have simulated the a wall in St. John's, Nfld. under ASHRAE Year 1 weather file.
I have placed a rain leak in the outer layer of OSB sheathing (I have created five slices of OSB , 1.3 mm, 1.3mm, 1.3mm, 3.6mm, 3.6mm) behind the WRB. I have selected 1% of driving rain as a source and also 5% of driving rain. When I export the moisture source and look at the amount of water entering the assembly it appears that for three instances during the year, the 1% driving rain fraction is giving me almost half or almost the same amount of moisture as the 5% leak. See image below for moisture source and RH of sheathing.

Image - opening image in new tab appears to work for me.

I also would like to confirm the units for the exported moisture source ?

Thank you for your consistent support.
Regards,
Mark

There may be a cut-off of the moisture source in cases where the OSB reached max. water content already. This is reported in the summary which pops ups after the calculation.
