Hello!
We are currently working on our bachelor thesis and we are investegating the moisture content inside a church wall. The purpose is to compare the moisture content within the wall with the current climate to a new indoor climate where we will set the min temp to 10 degrees etc. We have some problem to when we are trying to stabilaze the moisture in each layer so we can have a even curve. We have laborated with changeing the inital moisture content in each layer and we have achived a nice balance after long time (50 years).
The problem is that we always have some spikes in the beginning and we don't really know what to do to get rid of them. Does anyone have som pointers or tips?

You do not have to get rid of them. The first spike is depending on the initial moisture of your construction. In the first year/ years the initial moisture is being redistributed, your construction tries to come to its equilibrium.

I see, but since the construction is already assumed to be in equilibrium, tho it is build 500 years ago, we figure that the spikes will be misleading. If we use the last years in the calculation we will get rid of them but then we won't be able to se the inital changes when we apply our modified climate. We spent alot of time trying to adjust the inital moisture conditions in the layers but perhaps it is not possible to change it that way.Christian Bludau wrote:You do not have to get rid of them. You could extract the end-profile (or any other predefined profile) of your calculation (ASCII-Export) and set it as initial conditions and recalculate. Then the peak should disappear.
