Air inside of compartment

Post by Ergy »

Hi,

I have a question. I have a wall out of wood framework. The main compartment is filled with insulation, but the installation layer is empty - filled with air without any circulation being 470mm thick - What type of air material can I use? It is ok to change the thickness of one of the air materials even if the thickest air material is 150mm thick?

Thanks alot,
Ergy

Hi Ergy,
nope, you can not just change the thickness of the air layers, as they include effective values including radiation and convection.
Search the program help (accessible by the F1 key) for air layers. You can extrapolate the values given there. But keep in mind, that the thicker an air layer is becoming the more convection you will get due to temperature differences - this effect cannot be adequately accounted for in WUFI.
Unventilated cavities on the cold side of the insulation should be avoided.
