frost risk in material

Post by manexi »

Hi,

How can we know the moment of frost in a material ? What are the criteria which lead to frost (for example 0°C / 95%RH = frost ? depending on the size of the pore ?...)

Thanks for your answer,
Daniel

freezing limit potential

Please have a look on the disseratation of Hartwig Künzel on page 23, Figures 22 and 23.

http://www.wufi.de/ibp/publikationen/di ... tion_e.pdf

The freezing limit potential describes the relationship between freezing temperature and pore radius as well as pore radius of mineral building materials and relative humidity.

By these relation you get the freezing temperature in the just completely filled pores at different RH.
