Indoor climate

Post by Sandberg »

Hello, I need to model the indoor climate of a museum in the middle east. The data provided is 20C +/-1C, RH% 50-75%. What would be the best way to model these conditions? Thank you.

Hi Sandberg,

if the question is how to turn these ranges into temperature and humidity curves, this is ultimately for you to decide, depending on the purpose of your simulation.

If the given ranges are the seasonal ranges, and if daily variations can be expected to be negligible, then sine waves with a period of one year and

mean value 20°, amplitude 1° for the temperature curve, and
mean value 62.5 %, amplitude 12.5 % for the humidity curve

can be defined under the "Sine curves" tab of the Indoor Climate dialog.

If you wish to add daily variations, or if you wish to use any more complicated curves having the given ranges, you can create the desired hourly values with an Excel sheet and write them to a climate file in *.WAC format, using the "CreateClimateFile.xlsm" tool sheet in WUFI's Tools folder. If used for an indoor climate, a WAC file only needs to contain temperature and humidity data. The file can then be selected as a user-defined file in WUFI's "From Map / File" tab of the Indoor Climate dialog.

Kind regards,
Thomas
