Wood Fibre Insulation Board

Post by manexi »

Hello,

I'm looking for outside insulation "green" materials for my calculations. I read on the internet that wood fibre could be a possibility. So I found "Wood Fibre Insulation Board 1" (from MASEA database).

Do you know if the given material data is for interior or exterior insulation?

Thank you!
Manexi.

Hi Manexi,

there is no additional specification fo the wood fibre board from the MASEA database. It should be possible to use it as exterior insulation.

In the IBP database there is also some material "Pavatex Diffutherm" which is recommended by the manufacturer for the use in EIFS.

best regards

Hi Daniel,
I've to make a simulation of internal insulation with wood fibre. Could you suggest what are the best materials for insulation, glue, render/plaster?
I think Diffutherm is not the right one for internal insulation (it's made for etics), so I'm using Gutex thermoroom.
I didn't find anything specific for gluing and rendering so I'm using, for both layers, a normal Lime Plaster (W3) from Fraunhofer database, 6mm thickness. What do you think?

Thank you
Best Regards
Andrea

Hi Andrea,

sorry for the late reply.

In fact it's difficult to answer your question. If you want to use a capillary active interior insulation it's very important to use specific properties of your material. The system is very sensitive on the liquid transport - therefore assumptions are rather risky.

Of course thermoroom is an interior insulation material. The liquid transport was determined with the new capi test for interior insulation and is thus especially reliable for this applications... Lime plaste could be good. However best is to ask the manufacturere if he can provide some values...
