Laquer between two items

Hi

I have a construction where a piece of laquered wood is sitting next to another item (both right next to and with a distance of 5 mm), how would you suggest that I make the laquer, of which i know the sd-value?

Thank you in advance!

You can take the laquer in account by using a surface sd-value in the dialog surface/climate. Please not, that the rain is not affected by that sd-value, so you must switch it off (rain reduction factor = 0; in the same dialog).

Hi Christian

Thanks for the very fast reply. I have used the surface sd-value on the laquered surfaces which face outwards. But here it is in between two elements. Here i cannot add a surface condition, correct?

Thats correct... in this case you have to insert a layer with the properties of your laquer. If there are no capillary properties, just use a vapour barrier and change the µ-value. Please use no layers thinner than one millimeter.

Allright. From another thread in here I have:

"You must therefore adjust the mu value ("résistance à la diffusion de vapeur") in order to have a Sd of 18m:

Sd=mu*thickness => mu=18m/0,001m=18000"

And as my laquer would then be 1 mm thick, and my laquer has sd = 3m, I have:

mu = 3/0,001m = 3000

I'll try that :) Thanks!
