HVAC Schedule in WUFI

Hi,

I'm attempting to simulate an exterior wall assembly for a school building. Because the school does not operate its HVAC systems during the summer months (01 June to 01 September), I am wondering if I can run a 3 year to 10 year simulation showing no space conditioning for these months. Is it possible to create a schedule in WUFI Pro to do this? Or do I need to have some work-around to approximate this condition.

There is an excel spread sheet in the installation folder "tools" which allows you to create a WUFI climate file (.wac). That would probably serve the purpose.

I just figured you registered yourself in the Forum with a WUFI educational license. It probably requires a professional license to use a user-defined climate file.

Hi Manfred,

Yes, I have an educational license but I believe I have full functionality of the Pro version? I was able to generate the interior conditions I need (temperature & relative humidity) using an Energyplus model. I then used the "createclimefile.xls" tool and exported a .WAC file to define the interior climate in WUFI. It seemed to work for temperature (showing higher peaks during the summer months that correspond to the Energyplus inputs). However, relative humidity shows a constant maximum of +/- 72% for some reason. I have attached screenshots of the climatefile.xls, and WUFI visualization of the .WAC file. as a user defined interior climate.

My question is, can I represent the RH only from the .WAC output (as these are an accurate representation of the energy model)? I'm curious why there appears to be a limit on RH when I am sure the .WAC file shows RH as high as 90% during the summer months when there is no conditioning and no occupancy in the model.

Any guidance on this is much appreciated.

I am not sure what happened here. Also this does look like a WUFI Plus version and I don't know the specifics about the climate reader in there

Hi Kenner,

first: you are right, the educational version has no restrictions. It can do what you want.

What you are doing wrong is the use of the ASHRAE model. If I understand you right, you like to use the wac file directly as your climate source. In this case please select "From Map/File" instead of ASHRAE 160 and open your file there.

What you are doing with the ASHRAE 160 tab is deriving the indoor conditions on the right from your wac file. There is the cut off at 72% coming from.
