How to model a moisture sink

Post by David Lam »

Hi all
I had a good search in the forum and couldn't find an answer to what I thought would be simple (easy and complex right?!).

I want to model a cavity drain to see the impact that a moisture sink has.
Reading around it looks like I need to enter a Moisture Source with a negative value. However this does not seem possible.

I was expecting to be able to enter in the box in the screenshot below but this doesn't work. Can you help please?

Hi David,

the monthly moisture loads are meant to be a challenge for the drying potential of the building component and therefore accept only positive source strengths.

To define a moisture source with negative source strength, please use the option "Transient from File". The help file explains the format of a user-provided source strength file.

Kind regards,
Thomas
